The Romanian Surveying Company Primul Meridian took over their DA42 MPP laserscanning aircraft during the ILA 2008 in Berlin. Christian Dries, CEO of Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH and Wolfgang Grumeth, Managing Director of Diamond Airborne Sensing GmbH personally handed over keys and documents to Mr. Glont, Managing Director of Primul Meridian. The first Romanian DA42 MPP aircraft is equipped with Riegl Dual Laserscanning and IGI Flight Guidance / Geopositioning System in combination with a Midsize Digicam.

Laser scanning technology is a new and highly accurate method of surveying and it is applied in fields such as catastrophe prevention and flood, avalanche, landslide and rockslide area mapping. This revolutionary technology is also applied in the planning and building of highways, railways, pipelines and power lines.

The worldwide request for geographic survey is constantly rising, especially in countries like Romania, where the economic growth rate is enormously high and up-to-date data for cartographic purposes is urgently needed.

As always, innovative companies are the first to catch the wave of innovative solutions. By choosing the fully equipped DA42 MPP Primul Meridian has proved to be a pioneer, both in the whole Eastern European region and in the geodetic world in general by focusing on digital technologies.
